UPSC CDS Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates should confirm that they meet all requirements before submitting an application for the test. Their admittance at any point during the test is entirely conditional upon meeting the required eligibility requirements. Only when the candidate has been selected for the interview/personality test will the eligibility requirements be verified using actual documentation. For your information, we have listed the requirements for eligibility for the UPSC CDS (II) Exam 2024 below.

Nationality

The applicant must be single and have one of two options:

  • An Indian national, or
  • a topic related to Nepal, or
  • An Indian expat who moved to India with the goal of settling down there long-term came from countries such as Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.

Age Limit and Marital Status

The UPSC CDS 2024 Notification provides specifics on the age limit for the UPSC CDS (II) Exam in 2024. We have included a table below that shows the age limit by academy:-

Indian Military Academy The only eligible candidates are unmarried males born on July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2006.
Indian Naval Academy

Male applicants without children who were born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2006, are the only ones eligible.

Air Force Academy

As of July 1, 2025, candidates must be between the ages of 20 and 24. This means that they have to be people who were born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2005.

Officers’ Training Academy, (SSC Course for men)  Eligible candidates must be unmarried males born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2006.
Officers Training Academy, (SSC Women Non-Technical Course)

Eligible individuals include single women, widows without children who haven't remarried, and divorcees without children who haven't remarried and have divorced. They must have been born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2006.

I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai  an equivalent degree or a graduation from a university with accreditation.
Indian Naval Academy

Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution 

Air Force Academy

Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Note:-

Applicants may also sit for the CDS Exam if they are in their final year of college. At the SSB interview, the board must be shown an official graduation certificate.

Physical Standards

In order to be eligible for admission to the Combined Defence Services Examination (2) in 2023, a candidate needs to meet the physical requirements and guidelines established by the different wings.
